    Default Maybe JW's no more

If all comes to fruition with Russia and the JW's they would be considered a extremist group and thus could be the end of the JW's in Russia and also possibly here in the States also, along with that of worldwide. So what says your leader on this subject and of course yourselves are you worried yet ??
May the LORD have mercy upon us all and richly bless us.

It is interesting. The Russian Government bans certain literature as extremist. The Witnesses remove the literature and no longer distribute it (there are interesting videos of police planting banned literature in kingdom halls and then raiding a meeting and arresting those attending). This should be frightening to all religions (except the State relgion [Russian Orthodox?]).

The Witnesses survived the persecution from 1950's until early 1990's when they were allowed to worship in freedom (actually they grew in number). So they will continue to thrive. Life will just be more difficult. They may even be exiled to Siberia again. The Brotherrs and Sisters will know that the Worldwide organization wil support them in their trials.l
“Can we conceive of a greater incongruity, than for a Christian to go from his closet, where he has been praying for his enemies, and command his troops to plunge the weapons of death with fiend like fury, into the hearts of those very enemies? In the one case, he happily resembles his dying Master; but whom does he resemble in the other? Jesus prayed for his murderers. Christians murder those for whom they pray.” - Henry Grew, 1828

This isn't the first time my brothers had problems in Russia. This is just another bump along the road. Russia is abusing the laws against extremist. We'll see what happens.

Isn't the ban on JW literature a form of "disfellowship" imposed by government?

Sounds like they don't want citizens fellowshipping with JW literature.

"The contemporary Orthodox Church had shared communion with the Roman Catholic Church until the East–West Schism of AD 1054, which had been triggered by disputes over doctrine, especially the authority of the Pope. Prior to the Council of Chalcedon in AD 451, the Eastern Orthodox had also shared communion with the Oriental Orthodox churches, separating primarily over differences in Christology."

This may not be the first time but from what I gather the JW's org is very concerned and frightened about what is happening over there in Russia. I also believe the general consensus is if it happens over there then it would be a trickle down effect in that considering Putin and Trump are supposedly friends and seeing as how Trump is a business man he would then begin to sell.

Concerned? Yes. Frightened? I don't know about that. We know there would be opposition, and have experienced banns and imprisonment in different countries. After all, Jesus told us to expect it. Russia would be big though, but not out of character with this government.

We do not know exactly how things will unfold until the end comes, but we do know Jehovah will be with his organization, even if He allows certain things to happen we don't understand at the time. As a group, we are taught to build our faith now, in favorable season, because we do not know what tomorrow will bring, as long as this system continues to rule.

    Hi Tbax

Remember it happened way back by WW I where they sentenced them to long jail terms. Where was that? The U.S.A.! Isnt't that where freedom of speech is? Did They survive? From 8 in Jail to 7.5 million. Wow!

Concerned with safety of the brethren, is about all.

Remember that we JWs are expecting this to occur, on even a larger scale than simply Russia. We are not frightened in the least. The prayers you will hear at the Kingdom Halls is for our brothers and sisters to have the faith to endure.

At the end of the day, it won't stop the work. It will just go underground.
