    Default Without natural affection....

1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
    4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 2 Timothy 3

This is one of the signs of the end times...

By now there are few who would contest that we are living in the last days as prophecied by Jesus in Matthew 24

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Without natural affection... What does this mean, natural affection? The word 'scorga' in the original Greek refers to the kind of natural inclination one might experience playing with a puppy, or seeing an infant. You just want to smile, pet the puppy's head, touch the baby's cheek or tickle their toes! In this passage the word is not 'scorga' though, it is 'ascorga,' which means without that natural feeling of affection, incapable of showing that simplest of emotions. It is said that Adolph Hitler, surely the most maniacal tyrant to live in the past century had a dog that he loved! Yet this passage refers to someone who would not even be moved by the sight of a puppy or child!

It is becoming routine anymore to hear of young mothers, some in their teens, dropping their babies off in a dumpster, or of murdering their children.
The love of a mother for her children has been a classic theme throughout the ages and unsurpassed in their love and defence for their children.
But not so in this day and age!
There have been isolated incidences throughout history of mothers who killed their children. As a child, I can remember my grandfather singing the tragic Scottish song of the Cruel Mother! But it was the rarity of such mothers that made these individuals stand out! But now, you cannot pick up a newspaper, or watch a news program it seems, without hearing of a teenager stuffing her baby in a trash can, or a mother locking her kids in a closet for months at a time, or simply killing her children outright!
In the metroplex of Dallas, TX there has been at least two high profile incidents in the past week of a mother killing her daughter and then herself in a murder/suicide and this latest incident of a mother strangling her children!

We are in the last days!

So what do we do about it?

I have published multiple items in this forum about prophecy, you don't have to read far to come to the conclusion that this world as we know it does not have too many more revolutions to spin before Christ returns, so what should this mean to us as Christians?

Prophecy fills more than 1/3 of the Bible! It is an important subject and Christ did not want us to be ignorant of His immenint return! He stated that we will not know the day and the hour, no one does! But as a woman is pregnant, the closer her time to give birth, the more obvious it will become!

He laid out many signs that would accompany His return, this loss of natural affection, is but one of many signs that are becoming obvious to anyone who reads the news!

Again though, what should this mean to us today? Prophecy, when understood properly and acted upon is a "Motivational tool."

In Matthew 25, Jesus tells us of His return in the form of a parable. We have all read the story of the servants and the talents. One was given 5 talents and earned 5 more, one was given 2 and earned 2 more and the last was given 1 and buried it and presented only the one miserable talent to his Master when He returned.
Do we remember what happened to the servants? The first two were commended and rewarded! The last was stripped of what he had, and cast out!

What kind of servant will the Master find when He returns? What are you doing with the time, talents and treasures that the Master has entrusted you with?

    Jesus is coming.....better get busy!

    Great point!
I am 51 years old now. Hardly ancient, although it feels that ways sometimes.
But I can remember quite clearly what life was like as a kid.
Nobody swore. You couldn't even use the words, hate, hell, damn without serious rebuke- not only from your parents, but neighbors and teachers too.

40 years later--kids are singing the F word in their music lyrics, pointing weapons at neighbors and teachers are having sex with students.
The difference is astounding particularly because we aren't talking about a huge difference in time span. The cultural differences in just 40 years are mind boggling as compared to any other time in history thus far.

I heard about that woman in Texas. What a horrible thing to happen, but what is even more shocking is it's not all that uncommon anymore, and 10 minutes after the news report, most people don't even remember it - it makes no lasting impression. It's just par for the course, and people as a whole are not taking to heart the prophecies of Jesus.
These are the things that He said would happen in the end days.

It frightens me to think what the world will be like should the Lord tarry another 40 years.

I believe it is going to be worse too guys. I am younger...when I get as old as eleven here...which is a few years, as things are escalating fast, things will be actually pressing in.

I think about the time of Lot when the people were pressing in that he had to pull the angels into his house...it could get that bad.

I also think about the time when Lot was physically taken out by the angels...we have to be hearing and moving...
